Keiran was always a strange child. No one ever expected him to be normal, especially when his origins are taken into consideration. From a young age until the very beginning of puberty, Keiran is quiet, patient, thoughtful, and introverted. He prefers books and small projects to the company of other people and has spent most of his young like choosing to remain entirely silent. If he feels the need to communicate it is most often through face and hand gestures, with his true voice saved only for those closest to him. This nature does not hide a tortured soul but rather a shy one. Keiran has always known that he was never meant to be born, that he was an accident between his parents. Given all the love that he could handle from his mother, he never went down the 'I wish I had never been born' path, but chose to understand the dangers he presented to his mother and to normal human beings. Silence was easy, a choice born of self-preservation that allowed his natural powers to suss out who was acceptable and who would harm either him or his mother. If one should mistake his nature for innocent then they likely deserve what's coming to them - In the face of danger Keiran will not hesitate to strike as viciously and cruelly as possible. He may not understand what he is - because no one does, not really - but he is determined to protect the few things in life he has. As a teenager Keiran experiences a dramatic blossoming, all thanks to the magic of puberty. Gone is the overly shy boy who hid behind philosophy and magic tricks. Out came the extroverted, charming, and dangerous personality that delights or frightens. With a stronger grasp of what he can do and the boundaries that he can test, Keiran is playfully cruel and possesses high expectations of both himself and everyone around him. To those he can't stand he is a formidable enemy and to those he loves he's incorrigibly affectionate, often crossing obvious boundaries. Living partially in his mother's shadow (sometimes literally), Keiran feels a need to prove and valid himself time and time again. He is a hard worker and so focused that he can become obsessive in the blink of an eye. On top of all of this he knows how attractive he is and sees no issue with using that to his advantage. Despite that he has very little understanding of some basic emotions, choosing to assume one thing or the other and go on his merry way. He is both innocent and dangerous, powerful and weak, improbable but solid. His temper and high expectations get him into trouble, his lack of control over his own abilities make Keiran the very definition of a flight risk but underneath all of this is a boy who loves his family and wants more than anything to understand himself and his own family. |
